Simple Exercises You Can Do While Brushing Your Teeth

Caring for your oral health and getting enough fitness in your day are both important. However, you may find it tough to find the extra minutes in your day to exercise. The good news is that you can multitask while you’re brushing your teeth. After all, you spend a couple minutes brushing at least twice each day. Maximize your time and improve your health with these simple exercises that can easily be done while brushing your teeth.

Exercise #1 – Calf Raises

Calf raises offer a wonderful way to shape up, tone, and strengthen your legs, and they’re super easy to do while you’re brushing your teeth. Stand with the feet under your hips, lifting your heels up and then lowering them back down slowly. Repeat as many times as you can while brushing your teeth. You’ll definitely feel the burn.

Exercise #2 – Squats

Squats help strengthen the core and lower body, but they also help improve your flexibility. While brushing your teeth, pull the hips and butt back, sitting down towards the floor while ensuring that the knees don’t go past the toes. Make sure your back is flat and your heels stay flat on the floor. Knees should push out as you squat. Do as many as possible while brushing.

Exercise #3 – Wall Sit

The wall sit is a great way to exercise your core. Simply stand a couple feet in front of the wall, leaning your back against it. Slowly lower into a seated position until the knees are nearly at a 90-degree angle. Sit in that position with your back against the wall, squeezing your core muscles until you finish brushing your teeth.

Exercise #4 – Lunges

Lunges are also an easy exercise you can do while you brush those pearly whites. Do lunges by stepping forward with the left foot until your tight is parallel with the ground while the knee is at a 90-degree angle. Lower into the lunge and then straighten legs and move back to the beginning position. Lunge on the left leg for one minute, then switch and lunge with the right leg for another minute as you brush.

Every time you brush your teeth, challenge yourself to work in a couple exercises. You’ll be doing your teeth a favor and you’ll be maximizing your time to improve your overall health.
