What is the American Dental Association’s Seal of Approval

With an explanation of how the seal is acquired and some of the best products that are dental approved, such as mouthwashes, dental floss, teeth whitening products, toothpastes and toothbrushes.

The American Dental Association’s (ADA) Seal of Approval is assigned to dental products that pass rigorous testing of scientists and is found to be one of the best products for its use.

Along with the ADA staff for laboratory and science, over 100 scientists evaluate the dental products. Scientists look for key points in a product evaluation such as finding the product to be both safe and effective in its use. Products must have all ingredients in the manufacturing process that are FDA approved and use standards to manufacture the product to assure uniformity and purity. In addition, all advertising and packaging claims must be supported to be true by scientific research.

Consumers see products with the ADA seal of approval and can be rest assured that the particular product is safe and effective to use.
