Improved Technology, Better Dentistry

People are usually not thrilled about going to the dentist. But for those who have been avoiding getting the dental care they urgently need, this advanced technology can make a huge difference in their lives. New dental technology is transforming modern dentistry for the better.

Modern Dentists have a wide range of new technologies to not only improve the level of care that they offer patients, but also the ability to avoid many of the common complaints of patients. Here is an overview of just some of the newest dental technology available:

Digital X-rays requires up to ninety percent less radiation than traditional X-rays which is great news for patients. Digital X-rays appear on a computer screen within seconds and help dentists identify possible dental issues quicker and more accurately than before.

Diode lasers replace the manual probe many dentists affectionately call the "Explorer". Many patients dislike the feel and the sound when this probe sticks into one of their teeth.  A diode laser can detect cavities without pain or the scraping sound associated with the "Explorer".

CAD and CAM makes the process of getting new crowns or bridges much quicker. CAD, which stands for "computer-assisted design", uses advanced computers and scanners to design the new dental work within seconds. After using CAD to create the design, a CAM unit ("computer-assisted manufacturing") builds the bridge or crown right in the office without the use of time consuming molds.

Titanium implants increase the percentage of patients whose surgery is successful along with an improvement in the implant's durability. Over ninety-five percent of patients accepted their implants, and the typical lifespan of the dental implant increased by fifteen years.

Better cosmetic dentistry materials are available today. Thinner veneers (which are just as strong as older, thicker veneers) mean you can have the appearance of whiter, straighter teeth with less dental work. Improved bonding and filling material lets the dentist match dental work to your teeth's coloration for a less noticeable, more natural look.
